Fundamental to the quality of life is a progressive public safety program. Sullivan is fortunate to have a recently completed state-of-the-art police complex which serves as the hub for 13 commissioned officers, dispatching services and a full-time animal control program. The department provides a full range of programs to assist the public including DARE, COPS, Enhanced 9-1-1, Adopt-A-Pet and Neighborhood Watch programs. Similarly, the City benefits from its current ISO fire rating of four, which demonstrates the commitment of the 40-member volunteer fire district, fire prevention services and water accessibility. The Fire Department recently completed two rural substations and dedicated a new 75 foot ladder truck. Excellent Ambulatory services are provided without public subsidy by the Missouri Baptist Hospital of Sullivan.
